Letter of Authority

Give us the authority to help

A Letter of Authority lets us ask your current insurer or broker for information about your cover, so we can review it properly. Nothing changes with your policies until you tell us to. You can withdraw it at any time by telling us in writing.

Complete your letter of authority

Tell us who we’re acting for, read the authorisation, and type your name to sign. We’ll email you a copy.

Businesses or trusts

Search the Companies Register, or add it yourself (sole trader, trust, charity). Tell us your capacity for each.

This is exactly what you’re signing. Typing your name below signs it.

I authorise Better Insurance (M&C Risk Partners Limited) to obtain information, report and quote for the general insurance of the person and parties shown in this letter.

I authorise my current insurers, and any broker or adviser who has acted for those parties, to give Better Insurance the information it asks for about their general insurance and claims history, including policy documents, schedules, renewal details and insurer correspondence.

This is an authority to obtain information, report and quote only. It does not appoint Better Insurance as my insurance broker, replace an existing broker, or authorise Better Insurance to cancel, change or renew a policy. If I accept a quotation and instruct Better Insurance to put cover in place, Better Insurance will begin acting as my broker for the insurance I ask it to arrange or manage, and I accept Better Insurance’s current Terms of Business.

Insurers may pay Better Insurance commission when it arranges cover. Better Insurance may also charge a fee, which will be disclosed in writing before it is incurred. Better Insurance identifies, discloses and manages conflicts of interest, and must give priority to my interests when giving regulated financial advice.

This authority ends when Better Insurance has provided its report or quotation, when I withdraw it in writing, or 90 days after the date below, whichever happens first. A copy of this letter has the same effect as the original. Better Insurance’s disclosure statement at betterinsurance.co.nz/disclosure explains who it is and how it works.

I confirm I am authorised to give this instruction. I have read the letter above and I agree to it, and I know I can withdraw it at any time by telling Better Insurance in writing. I will answer my insurer’s questions honestly and with reasonable care, and I will tell Better Insurance if anything changes my risk. I agree to Better Insurance collecting, using, and sharing my information as set out in its privacy policy, so it can act for me.
